I can recommend the Mash Tun in Aberlour, lovely clean rooms (mine had a fantastic view of the Spey), good food and a fine selection of malts. Not to mention that it's only a stone's throw from the river so easy to pop in for a lunchtime livener if you fish Aberlour Association water...Hmm, perhaps that's not such a good thing if you lack will power A bit too close to the top of my budget at £50 per night b&b but you get a discount for staying the whole week, 7 nights for the price of 6. Overall excellent value. www.mashtun-aberlour.com/

Here is a lovely farm house, a short walk (200 yards) from the Fiddoch-Side-Inn. It is owned by one of my regular guests and he bought the house a couple of years ago with a view to retiring into. At present he remains busy in London and it is currently booked around 18 weeks of the season. Having stayed overnight, I can personally vouch for the high standard of cleanliness and accommodation. A perfect fishing lodge with enough room for a party of 8 with ease. www.birchbankhouse.com/

Dave, can your liver not stand another week at Ballintomb? The question is, can you stand another week of my culinary skills? and don't you have to be residing in Grantown to get the weekly permit?

I think I remember on the Carron trip WG stating 'it is edible' ! I can't remember what you made that week, but i am sure it was edible after a glass.................i mean bottle of red wine

Thought I'd give the Mash Tun a whirl in Aberlour. Now very important question. Do any of the hostelries in Aberlour have Satanta Sports? Top of the table clash on March 3rd: Torquay Utd V Alderstot.

Hi Rob,
I'm sure thehe Aberlour Hotel will have your desired sports channel, but may not have a lot of supporters. The darts will be stopping in mid-air if you ask for that game............... ;D
The food in the Mash Tun is good and the whisky even better.
Enjoy your trip and let me know when you're coming up.
