Does anyone know if figures are available to the general public for C&R percentages on various rivers. Publically available figures, for the years 2001-2006 are give here in these links, kindly provided by the FRS Scotland: salmo.proboards74.com/index.cgi?board=fishingpractices&action=display&thread=1196787492More figures are available back to 1994, from when C&R data were started to be collected for Scotland salmon fishing, and again the data is available from the FRS, but only by application to the FRS in Pitlochry (contact details given on the website), and then most usually in printed form. Have a look at the 2001-2006 figures, and see if you can work out the relevant river by river C&R %'s. Work is currently underway on these figures between myself, and Victor, and the data will be presented here in due course. Mike

In England and Wales the EA cstch return reminder that is sent out very year has the previous years catches and return % for every river. By region the % returned for salmon in 2006 are as follows: North West - 51% Wales - 52% North East - 57% Mid (the Severn) - 59% Southwest - 74% Southern - 100%
We seem to be a more enlightened forward looking bunch in the south. The Itchen, Test, Avon (Hants), Piddle, Axe and Looe all had 100% C&R (although the Axe only had 9 fish and the Piddle and Looe one each!) The indivdual rivers with the lowest return rates are in Wales, the Nevern with 12% and the Ogwen with 6%.
Sea trout C&R is around the 54%-58% for all regions except Northwest where it is 74%.

I can't click the links because a popup comes up and says no copying please, all very well but the links don't work because of it. Assume this is the same for all site links now. I have just clicked on 10 links - all work, no pop-ups, no messages of "no copying" These included WG's link, & the YouTube links, & the link I gave you to the C&R data. Mike

I have to say that the Severn is only in third place for England and Wales because we have an earlier run, protected by the bye laws.
I would think the precentage of returned fish after June 16th is probably worse than anywhere else.

You're correct - there appears to be a problem with the FRS links which are .pdf documents!
I'll enquire from salmo (admin) if there is some setting on proboards which I had not been aware of.

Bizarre!!!
The .pdf link given by WG, and the same one given by myself as one of 6 are all OK. This relates to the 2006 FRS data.
BUT the other links to the other years give the 'no copying' message!
Now I'm really confused!!

I was noting a point of fact which might be helpful in solving a problem - trying to be PC. Did I say superior ? Try internet banking on a Mac = mailstrom. They impress the birds though. "there" = spello. M
