Saw all of Robbie's threads and realised I need something to do once the season ends shortly.
Im quite new to this so dont own any books myself, though I have been leant a few over the last 2 years.
Would it be worthwhile collecting a list of all the popular books then doing a vote to see which ones are the forum top 5? We may need categories too?
Could even start a book pool if 90% of us dont already own our own copy anyway? Postage may be prohibitive though??
Not sure if we could reach any concensus or if opinions are divided most of the time....just trying to focus my (and anyone else looking to get some books) spending.
Thoughts or suggestions? Nolon.

You can already buy so many books on ebay at a knock down rate and even then the postage often exceeds the cost of the book by quite a margin. Anyway, with your area library service you will find many fishing books available for next to nothing.
I am very careful who I lend books to, many of them are rather valued personal possessions and hard to replace, certainly wouldn't want to lend them out to any Tom, Jock or Harry, even if through forum. Try before you buy is a great idea but just can't see this working, different principal to fly lines and their ratings. I can just imagine the "fun" and "games" someone would have with even a "rod pool".

Point well made fruity. We will put that in the bad ideas bucket then. The book pool was actually an afterthought, was looking to identify a quality selection as I intend to build up my own collection but am sure the numerous posts here will point me in the right direction in any case. Cheers, Nolon.

Owen, Your idea of a top 5 list is not so daft. Perhaps we can encourage others to offer their favoured books and maybe Fruity can contribute some authors/book titles as he is obviously well versed in available angling literature?. We can post a poll with the results. I guess you will need to start a new thread and request some replies ATB Robbie

Robbie,
Will do. Have just had a browse on Ebay and there are 31 titles at the moment for sale, only one of which I have heard of. Narrowing down to the good ones looks like a good idea as you say, before I start throwing my hard earned around.
Will put up a nominations thread and will look into how to create a poll once all the entries are in.
Cheers, Nolon.
