Seems appropriate to start a thread as the N Wales rivers have generally been at summer level since the start of the season, and the Tweed & Tyne seem to be suffering the same. Forecast for the next 2 weeks doesn't look too promising either........................where's the trout rod.

The Angus Esk's are both in dire need of water. The Tay has enough carry in it to bring in clean fish regardless of height.

Tweed is just getting a good height for the bottom beats and I would say still enough water to carry fish on and upwards. Till and Whiteadder are at very low levels for this time of year and badly require a good going spate to fetch any fresh fish in which might be waiting to run. Eskimoo the rain dance sounds interesting perhaps you could post a video of the steps and moves on You Tube. Tweedsider

Sorry Tweedsider the steps and moves are a closely guarded secret (I just make them up as I go along) but I think you will see by the forcast for this week that my dancing has had an effect, or the high pressure has been pushed out by a low and we should all enjoy some rain and a rise in river levels this week, tight lines to everyone and I hope things improve to allow a fresh run of fish in all our river systems.

Hello Eskimoo, Thanks for that, the steps and moves are most likely much to complicated for an old dog like me who is loath to learn new tricks.

Sorry Tweedsider the steps and moves are a closely guarded secret TS - I have been privvy to these fancy footsteps and accompanying music and there is really nothing to it - quite willing to spill the beans. Looks great in waders - just substitute the guitars for rod's or gye net's. Remarkably little vibration underfoot - which is nice

Back on topic - any decent rainfall for anybody yet ? I noticed a couple of the Dee / Spey tributaries took a wee bit of water.

Back on topic - any decent rainfall for anybody yet ? Decent runs of water in North Ayrshire today. Pity it was 2 months too early.

Yes, same in South Ayrshire. Heard that the first fish was caught on the Ayr last week, no doubt there will be a few more running after this rain, although they will have to wait for the water to clear; a bit like swimming through thick gravy at the moment!

The Tay has taken on a bit of fresh water as has the Angus Esk's albeit the South more than the North. Interesting to see if catches improve accordingly.

Tweed rose about 6" overnight Monday, with only a slight tinge. No rod bending action on Tuesday, and just as spirits were flagging on Wednesday afternoon, the unexpected happened.....................I'll post a report when I get time. It was great to meet you Col, and to fish the infamous Bridge Pool at Pedwell, you could almost set you watch by those fish running off the tide - get yerself some tide tables! ;D
