I was wondering if anybody could help out here, strong possibility i may be working in the Bergen area of Norway for a few months about August time. Whilst there i would love to sample some of the Norwegian salmon fishing. Does anyone have any info on any salmon rivers in the area ( if there are any ) prices, length of season etc etc, Any help would be very much appreciated. Rgds B

J F,
I actually grudged putting the link on....FISHPAL getting into everyones pockets all over the globe....i've no doubt you will get cheaper fishing out there without going through them.
I hope you do..good luck.

I'm sure Salmo will give you some good pointers when he reads this thread.
Should be 24hr round the clock fishing in August!

Hi Jackfish, Salmon fishing is generally very accessible for visitors but advertising can be poor. Once you get your feet on the ground talk to the tackle shops and see what advice they have. You have to buy a Norwegian national license (25 GBP although I have not bought this years) and then you often have to show this to get your gear disinfected (spraying your waders and boots etc etc at farms or Esso garages). Once your gear is sprayed you will get a sticker to put on the National license which you will have to show the river owner to buy a day ticket. These are often farmers but you can also but day tickets at petrol stations. The fishpal system lists many of the better known systems (and hence more expensive) but it is far from exhaustive. There many hundreds of rivers and generally you can find good day tickets for around 200 NOK - 300 NOk (2- - 30 GBP) on many rivers. Kids under 16 often fish for free. Fishing is more casual and often with no river guides. It is supply and demand though so like anywhere the most expensive beats are the best.
