Just had major thunder + lightening over east Angus. Both Esk's are bound to see a rise which should herald the start of the grilse run proper.

Hope the rain brings in sufficient fish to keep the next few weeks 'lively' with action! Mike

The rain helped me last night.......3 grilse to kick of the season. No shortage of grilse running in this part of the Hebrides either................even though half of then are not much fatter than kelts! We have a nice dirty flood here today so this pm should be perfect for giving a fly a swim. Happy days!

Rain, thats an understatment!!!!!!! river up past 3ft running brown, on the drop now so if it stays dry for a few days and settles then should fish ok for the last seatrout. Dont think any self respecting grilse would have run far in the last rise, to coloured, hopefully start to push now as river has held its height for 24hrs (1ft 1") this morning.

Hope the waters settle down soon, both for the running fish & the fishers! Every so often the streams do need a real good clean out, helps the overall health of the river... Mike

Well done Fredo, a fine start to the season over there. A bit too much rain here recently, the levels going up and down too often seems to unsettle the fish a bit.

Can't believe how much rain we have had in the last couple of weeks. I see Ballathie on the Tay is over 8 feet this morning.

At last the Whiteadder has received some water, 2ft 11in and rising, if no fish on this there will be a few long faces. Having said that very high water a month ago failed to bring any fresh fish in, in decent numbers. FIngers crossed for this time.

The predicted downpour has been fairly minor in N Wales, but the river has risen slowly and I hope to cast a line tomorrow evening.

Had a look at the South Esk this evening - big and dirty - started to rise around 4pm. North Esk a similar picture. Spey and Dee seem to have missed the worst of it.
