As it is now, there will be a few rivers which will 'suffer' with a flood, and if it just happens immediatley prior to or during a planned trip, how do you cope or do you fish at all?
I remember many times, especially in Ireland, reaching the river which was running a 4-6 foot flood, and still fishing, AND still catching!! Sometimes hooking fish in what was the surrounding field!
How do you go about such conditions?
Look for the calmer spots, eddys etc?
Look for some worms?
Use a large gaudy fly/spoon or large bright fly?
or do you just head back to the digs/pub/car & make for heading home??

If you are there you might as well fish, especially if you are only there for the day. Although conditions may be against you catching a lot of fish, you can still pick up the occasional one in seemingly hopeless conditions.

Faced those conditions last week and had no option but to come home as it was like a river of mud, havent seen it that colour in a long time!! . I would fish in any height of water, even fished Inchmarlo on the Dee at 7ft above and still got fish but when the colour gets really bad, time to go home!!
