Guys, Any help would be great. I just pick up myself a 13ft Diawa Scott Mackenzie signature rod second hand, cracking wee rod looks great! I am intending on getting a new reel and line as its a different rating to my 15ft loop rod, but i thought i would try my reel (Airflo T7 10/12) on the rod just too see it with a reel. When i had fully tightened up the reel it was still loose and rattles about. My question is, am i going to have to be careful what reel i buy or is it just my cheepy Airflo reel that is the problem??? Thanks Craig

Craig, Try putting a piece of cardboard under the reel seat before tightening the screw fitting. Not the prettiest solution but it is practical.
Tight lines, Mike

cheers, yeah i was thing of wedging something in there. Iam planning on a new reel for the rod anyways so will make sure its a snug fit befor i buy. I was just wondering if iam going to have to buy an expensive reel to suit the fitment or is it just the Airflo reel has very slim seat seat. craig

Another thing you could do Craig, is use some tape (electrical or other) around the reel itself, before attaching it to the rod. That may be more practical. The cardboard is likely to get wet during the course of the day, and fall to bits. Bill
