Try putting on a pair of marigolds, rubber washing up gloves, you and a mate the cross over your hands ie you have one hand on one section and the other on the second section, so does your mate, and twist each section against each other.
NEVER USE WD40 IT WILL BOND THE SECTIONS TOGETHER FOR EVER.

Then with the assistance of a friend it became possible to separate them. hf

ive tried the rubber gloves, but will give that another go. Two people keep the rod straighter trying it by yourself leads to you pulling and twisting at an angle.

I'm pleased to hear of your success Craig. Strange thing though, sitting on the bench in front of me just now is an almost identical pair of gloves, Orange with Yellow cuffs the name on the back is Grip Z. I take it You will be bringing these gloves on future fishing trips then ;D

Rub some wax from a candle on the ferrules before you next make up the rod, this will help to stop them sticking.

Make sure it is candle wax (parrafin wax) and not bees wax.

Although there are proprietry blends & brands of ferrule wax, if paraffin (candle) wax is good enough for Bob Meiser to supply with his rods, then it is good enough for any rod!
