If I can resurrect an old thread, I just found something that works great for getting stuck ferrules loose. Its called "shelf liner" and its a rubbery mesh that grips better than anything I know. I learned of it from Sage after paying them to unstick a rod for me. An expensive lesson, but one I was glad to learn .

If you're on your own with a stuck rod, with knees bent place the rod behind your knees and grip the rod on the outside of your knees and press your knees outward. Works sometimes Cheers Iain
