Having bought a couple of 17lb 3 yard tapered leaders to help with turnover Im now wondering how to attach them at the fly end.
Loop to loop to a final trace of lower breaking strain? If so how long and what strength?
Fly directly tied on to the end (meaning it will shorten each time I use it)? At £2.50 each not a great concern if this is a better idea.
Many thanks in anticipation.

To preserve for as long as possible the length and usefulness of a relatively expensive tapered mono leader, then there are two main options for fishing with them:
1. tie a secure loop on the fly/business end (surgeon's or water knot loop, or a perfection loop)
2. tie on a small steel leader ring - these are either 2 or 3 mm diameter I think - made by Riverge
& with either of the above in place, you can loop on or tie on your tippet of whatever breaking strain (and length!) you need for the fishing situation, and replace this tippet whenever required without compromising the length of your tapered leader.
Hope that helps
