Hi All,
I'm new to the Salmon forum!
I'm buying a spinning rod, it's a : Greys G, series 9ft, 15 - 45g, rod! But, which reel from the list below, would you recommend for some light and occasional Salmon fishing?
1 Shimano Alivio 4000RA
2 Shakespeare omni X
3 Okuma Travertine
4 Okuma Zorax
5 Mitchel Avocet 4000F
6 Mitchel Avocet II 4000R
Your help and information, would be appreciated!

Thanks Guys,
looks like the Shimano alivio 4000R, would be the best choice!
Andy, point taken on CF post!
Cheers

Don't really like to seem like a long-playing record, but it's another vote for the Shimano....

Shimano make good reels - from what I've seen.
I have an old Mitchel 306A circa early 80's. Fabulous meaty mechanical sound when the bale arm engages. The ratchet sounds great too - a bit like a crawmill (football racket). Although no longer use, the pleasure from digging it out every so often for a couple of quick clicks and burls fairly cheers up the long winter nights. Multipliers are dull by comparison.

I've just bought an unused shimano twinpower reel for a bargain price.
Smooth retrieve? It makes my £50 Daiwa feel like a pepper grinder. ;D
