Hi Folks,
I thought I would post a few videos to let you see the potential benefit of digital technology with regard to fly-casting.
Although not the “Holy Grail”, I have found this very helpful when teaching people. No matter who the instructor and whatever the sport, he/she will stand back, analyse, then impart information in whichever manner they feel will be absorbed best by the pupil. Taking this on a stage further, if the pupil can then sit with instructor and see for themselves where things are going wrong then it is far easier and in the main, quicker, to put the faults to bed than with either written or verbal information. Our eyes are our most important sense with regard to deciphering information!!
These are very simple clips of three fairly good casters and one of a total beginner. I have overlaid myself on two of the clips. Everyone was using exactly the same set up.
Simple overhead cast with 25 yards of line. Red lines indicate position of both thumbs on the back-cast. Blue indicate the same during “Drift” and Green the same during the forward stroke. A very effective way of pushing people in the right direction.

Not the best format because videos cannot be slowed down, opened in Media Player or something similar will show the true value.
