An early start sometimes has its rewards: I was travelling from the North Esk down to the Tweed last Saturday at some ridiculous o'clock time, but tiredness took the better of me. Stopped over for a couple hours snooze in a layby at the top of a hill around 30 odd miles from Coldstream. Awoke to the dawn's breaking light: Made a coffee, and gathered my thoughts about the forthcoming day's fishing, when this appeared in the sky! An omen?? Drove on towards Coldstream & Kelso, but the image wouldn't go away! ??bad sign?? Further down the road, just had to stop for some pics of the rapidly rising sun bursting through and with the mist over the fields & hedges, looked more promising... The final lot of pics captured this view: However, on arrival at Upper N Wark, and AFTER getting all changed, and tackled ready for the day, met Tam the Ghillie, but his expression & body language confirmed the worst "Nae watter! Been like this fur weeks!" It really was a dribble, with 2" above summer level on the guage, where 24"+ needed for it to fish. Not even able to try for trout. Home, James Maybe next year. Mike
