After looking at all the well taken "trophy shots" of salmon on various fora, I think it is about time we had a competition for mere mortals like me who can barely work a camera. So lets see your worst attempts at taking a picture of a salmon..... (The prize for the worst one will obviously be an equal measure of ridicule and sympathy.) Here is one I took this week of a lively wee fish that would not lie still.

Don't think this one will ever make the cover of Sewinmeister magazine. Great hand and sleeve though.

Fredo, you obviously not alone at taking bad photos. Here is one of my best bad ones. In my defence I was using a timer and the fish was not cooperating at all. BTW its a ferox.

Cant quite figure out if that's your hand (if so, thats some length of thumb) and which way it's facing. I agree, a truly dreadful photograph - my compliments to the lensman ;D

Now that I have been exposed I ask the salmon fishing court to take other salmon photo crimes into account when passing sentence. Same fish same cack-handed photographer I need a DVD on 'One handed fish photography using the left hand to take on a right handed shutter on a lanyard while grassing a fish on the left bank with the right hand using a left hand reel with a 14-8ft rod under an 8ft tree' ;D ;D ;D

Nice fish. We all need photo lessons for fishing alone. Any volunteers??
On a lighter note. I showed my 14yr old son a fish picture with rod and reel in background and he asked me where I got the miniature rod and reel from - cheeky bugger - the apple never falls far from the tree eh ;D ;D ;D ;D

Agree S - that's about as poor as it gets. Looking at Deedon's pics I now retract this statement. The 'sea lice' shot plumbs new depths. I doff my cap to you sir.

Brilliant thread. Very enjoyable. I will try to dig out a pic of my first fish - it is a gas!
We are all human and nature and photography can make total prats out of us at times.
