My felt sole partly came off from my wading boots yesterday and as one can imagin, made for a difficult (Aka John Cleese) walk never mind the wading!!
What is the best way and glue to use for the repairs? The boots are only a 1 1/2 season old and apart from that are sound, so I would like to fix them to get at least to the end of this season.
Anyone had any success with gluing them back on?

Kenny..epoxy resin and screw studs in..that should do the trick. I had screws in them Colin, but once the sole had started to come adrift, noticed that they didn't actually go through into the boot sole, so longer studs will be required and some good adhesive.

I had that comedy sole episode, tried everything and they still came unstuck.Put me off, plus skidding around on grass/mud,I think they are dangeroous and wouldn't use them again. I now have a pair of studded rubbersoled boots that are sure footed on all surfaces, excellent product.

One of my friends in Ballater (Alan M the plumber) who is a serious fisher and serious anti-tackle-tart took his felties to the shoe shop in Aboyne Station Square a couple of years back.
The young guy did a cracking job stripping off the old felt and gluing the new stuff on. The boot were fairly battered but the soles were as good as new. Not sure where he got the felt though.
Some time back diverdave was recommending water-proof glues for this purpose.
Hope you get it fixed.

I use bostic 2402 for bonding on felt soles. It is seriously strong and used for making dive suits and inflatable power boats so will work in all temperatures, is properly waterproof and very strong. I have tried other glues but this one is by far the best. Dave www.wader-repair.co.uk
