I have been invited to go out and fish the rivers Stjørdal and Forra in Norway sometime this summer. Does anyone have any information on these rivers and their run timings? Late June early July looks like the only time I may be able to get time off, is this too early?

Which beats would you be on? Had a cast on the Forra many moons ago during opening week - some interesting water. Stjordal was very high. The week around 20 June is often the height of the MSW run in the Trondheim rivers and by early July the grilse are running, so you should be fine. Tight lines, Roy.

I have very little information about the rivers or the beats other than they are under the management of the Merakerbrug Estate. I understand that the Forra has the best fly water and from the discussions I have had this is where I am most likely to end up. The only time I have available to go would be last week in June/first week in July. From what you are saying this is MSW fish time

Hi Sagecaster, The company has fishing on the Forra up at the Falls, which used to be leased by NFC. This was a great early season spot, and Strokka the pool below, for what were usually MSW salmon. The catch for the river last year was around 276. Like I say, I was there at the start of the season in high water. I would think there would still be fish there in late June, and the two pools below the big foss was good holding water. merakerbrug.no/Produkter/Fiske/Laksefiske/Forra/ Their fishing on the upper Stjordal includes the Rena Gard beat, which has been quite exclusive in the past and is supposed to be lovely fly water. The company also leases some water to the Melhus club. So make sure they put you on the good beat . merakerbrug.no/Produkter/Fiske/Laksefiske/Rena_Gard/Hope this helps. Roy.

Thanks again for the advice. Hopefully I will get a cast on both rivers and perhaps even a fish or two! I always enjoy fishing new destinations and Norway will be a first for me. ;D
