I used to use them a lot with some success fro sea trout, particularly at night when there was a slight tinge in the water.
I honestly don't know if they make any difference to catches - I suppose it's something elese to try on a dark night, and a bit of a confidence thing. I tende to use them on the flying treble of a secret weapon type fly, red and orange being my favoured colours.

i have caught on them in colored water in the daytime but never at night in my opinion i would sooner tie the body of the fly in glo floss just charge it up with a torch for a few minutes altogether a much more subtle light wich the fish seem to acept far more readily just my thoughts

I have used these lazer lights to good effect on the River Fowey in Cornwall. One year our party's majority of fish were on these flies. However, I heard a rumour that they are now illegal?

i dont think they are illigal but are looked on somewhat as unsporting although you can tip a fly with maggots on some waters which to me is more unsporting
