I have been in Deeside for the last couple of days. Bone dry until yesterday and only a dab of rain.
Drove over Glen Shee today to Edinburgh and it was clagged in (low cloud) but on the way back it was sunny.
The river is looking very low in most places. Easy casting and no need for waders. There will of course many good holding pools but I would be thinking about late August or September and some bumper fishing when the water level rises.
Bad advice is always free so make of that as you wish. When you get a bit of a drought you just have to be there waiting when it rains next.

Looking at the rainfall radar just now.............there has been a belt of really heavy rain moving slowly up the east coast. It looks like Eskimoo has had the rain he hoped for.

Good news. I am seeing steady rain in Aboyne. I am sure this will make a difference.

Looks like a couple of inches of much needed water for most of the east coast rivers.

A small rise on the Tweed will probably result in a very dirty flood, as the bed and margins were very slimy.
More rain next week should freshen things up.

We got to the Tweed this morning to find it slightly coloured, but fishable. But within a few hours rose about 6-8" or so and with it brown, sediment laden water with branches and much weed/other debris coming down. That put paid to any decent fishing for us.

Southie up to 2ft today, the colour of weak coffee but starting to clear and drop, more rain forecast for tomorrow so should start to pull some fresh fish up stream over the coming week. Let's hope the season proper starts here.

A fair bit of rain here this evening between 5-7pm. Southie looks in good ply going by the FC webcam. Here's hoping it sticks around for a few days at least.

Looking for some steadier rainfall, or at least intermittently, so that the levels can remain at healthier for the fish already in the system, and to encouarge a few more to run Wish I could get out to take advantage of this new water myself, but it's looking as if I will have to make way for other, fitter anglers Good luck to all those with the time to get out next week & beyond. Thanks for the updates, Andrew - I will truly be an armchair angler for the rest of this month anyway Mike

You're staying at home next time. I'd forgotten you're a jinx That slime was really slimey. And a wee bitty slippy too Very , very wet all the way home from West Lothian to the Costa del Clyde. All local streams in high , dirty flood , but the larger Ayrshire rivers wouldn't appear to have moved yet.

plenty water in the esks today! No half ! Something similar during the 2nd half of next Thursday would be perfect. The Dee looks like it has taken on some water but the likes of the Spey and Deveron look as though they have missed it - so far. The Girvan looks pretty full.

After veiwing the cams (Scottish ones) on the Farson site, it would appear that most of the rivers on there have plenty of water at last. Now bearing in mind that Fort William Area is supposed to be one of the wettest parts in the UK there appears to be no increase in the water levels at all. Disapointed to say the least, as we need water now for the trip up there next week. Can the succesful rain dancer on here sort that out please
