What do members think about including a seatrout discussion on our board as well.? I am sure that many fishers go for both if they have chance. salmo Hi salmo - considering the slightly different mindset involved in seat trout fishing compared to salmon fishing I, for one, would be in favour of a dedicated board . As an example, I 'authored' a thread on the Sea Trout forum several months ago under the heading of "Night Vision" which threw up some very interesting observations and advice by posters on how to 'cultivate' it. Regards STip

What do members think about including a seatrout discussion on our baord as well.? I am sure that many fishers go for both if they have chance. salmo An excellent idea. As you say, many salmon fishers will have an interest in sea trout. For some of us, the sea trout is the superior quarry. There are currently two popular dedicated UK sea trout fora but they tend to focus on Welsh sewin, and have not, to date, become as international in flavour as some of us hoped. I hope that those fora will continue to grow and attract a wider audience, and so focus attention on the plight of UK sea trout in particular. This forum has the potential to become more international in its appeal and would provide an ideal platform for the discussion of sea trout fishing, not only on the rivers of the UK, but in a wider European context.

I only suggested it to bump our total posts up above the 500 mark. Just joking , but I could not help seeing that we were close. Not bad for our first 5 days. The board is now set up. We can move it out of site later when the salmon fishers wake up ;D Please yourselves but I hope you can focus on the usual tackle, technique and tactics etc. Include a getting started in sea trout. Discuss flies by all means but if you have any step-by-steps I think they are better in the fly-tying board. We can cover the decimation of scottish west coast sea trout by salmon farming in the conservation board. salmo

Personally I make no difference between sea trout fishing and salmon angling, they are al migratory fish with sea trout the more spectacular quarry of the two. What my experience is on Tweed is once the light has gone there is little chance of hooking a sea trout, perhaps specialists in this field will say otherwise. Over a lifetime on Tweed I have seen plenty of sea trout caught in broad evening daylight under sunny conditions in normal to low water flows.
Come on someone tell me they have had good seatrout fishing on Tweed in night time conditions.

I agree a dedicated sea trout board would be a good idea. Daz could post some pics of those monsters he's alway catching. ;D
Tweedsider, yes it seems that Tweed is not that productive for sea trout at night. Not sure why, perhaps the sea trout don't need to run up the bigger rivers at night because their is so much water in them ? Perhaps not many people try for them?
The Till is the place to be, or so I believe.

I'm really pleased that a seatrout board has been setup!..I feel I can contribute a little more to the forum now, being predominately a seatrout angler. Tight lines. DAZ.

Yes you are correct there conwyrod Till seems ok at night according to friends who fish it. Also some reports of success after dark on Whiteadder of night time success. Personally not to keen of night fishing on smaller rivers as I can catch plenty trees, bushes and assorted herbage in broad daylight, never mind total darkness. Tweedsider

Hi Chaps ! Think a Sea Trout section would be a great Idea, As many of the Salmon Anglers also fish for the Sea Trout as well... Stan

Hi Ravenscraig - there is a Sea Trout board at present and I would hope that as the forum develops / grows it will become an integral, and much subscribed to, part of the broader picture. Yours aye STip
