We are all pretty envious of the fishing access that the ADAA has. Can visitors buy day tickets?

Can visitors buy day tickets? kinnaird Best Wishes to Alistair Hume who stands down this year - I fished with him at Forglen - well it was in the latter half of last century now. Yes I think they can accomodate visitors but the best waters are reserved for members only, which from my point of view is a great shame - regards Tilbouries, at least when it was private I could get my wallet out. Is it only 1 syndicate rod ADAA has? I accept that angling pressure may be great but I'd like to see an association that accommodates visitors like Duff House Royal Golf Club. I know if I turn up at 10.00am on any Sunday morning at Duff House I will get a visitor's tee - full stop - welcome visitor. They even named the Club after my golfing ability ! Why not make ADAA available to visitors on a Thursday for example. I might be mistaken but checked the ADAA website last week. Malcolm

Malcolm Malcolm, It's not strictly true that the ADAA restrict the best water to members only. The Parkhill beats on their day can fish really well and offer sport equal to that of the 'top' beats in Scotland. The website is confusing on what is available to visitors but don't be put off thinking that the ADAA are letting 'poor' fishings to visitors, quite the contrary. At £25 per day the ADAA beats offer very good value for money if you fish these beats at the right time of year.

Thanks SAY for your clarification. I checked the ADAA website and indeed PArkhill is available for visitor salmon fishing - a good price if available when the water is good.
Tilbouries - no Machar Pool - no Pots and Fords - no
These are all beats I have fished previously but having moved from the Aberdeen area ADAA offer ZERO access ie you couldn't even pay big money to get on !! That in my view is a retrograde step and has been so for some time, I acknowledge however that Associations are run for the benefit of locals and prioritized accordingly.
If ADAA look at it from a visitor point of view surely to make the Machar and Pots and Fords available for but three hours on a Thursday every leap year would convey some notion of visitor access. And would stop fishers outwith the area "ghosting" local addresses, lets face it it is happening. I'm afraid I do not agree with keeping the Machar Pool exclusive to local anglers - not 100% anyway. A well kept secret in my view. The website photo reminds me of a bus queue - I hope the pressure is not normally so.

Malcolm Malcolm, Tilbouries is run as a syndicate and the ADDA had a 1 rod there on a Thursday last season. The beat is a 6 rod syndicate with day rods available throughout the season as not all syndicate rods fished and if you want the odd day you should contact the owner directly. Pot & Fords and the Machar Pool - These beats are not so productive now, when I first joined the ADAA 15 years ago you were always certain of a finnock or two. In the last ten years these beats have gone downhill and as a visitor you are not missing much. As for availability - I'm not sure if their is a restriction on the number of vistors per day.
