It was a lovely sunny and frosty morning so I decided to do a walk that I've been meaning to do for a long time. There's a small river below these impressive falls, and it does get a few salmon and sea trout at the backend.

None of the above, but it is a well known place in N Wales. I was just hoping you might have been even slightly impressed with my Welsh John ;D Wherever it is it looks as though an invigorating shower could be taken 'neath it.

'tis the Aber Falls indeed, a short river that runs into the Menai Straits.
The lower river is the Afon Aber, but the name changes as you move up river.
Aber Falls (Rhaeadr Fawr in Welsh) is a waterfall located about two miles (3 km) south of the village of Abergwyngregyn, Gwynedd, Wales.
The waterfall is formed as the Afon Goch plunges about 120 feet (37 m) over a sill of igneous rock in the foothills of the Carneddau range. Two tributaries merge; the enlarged stream is known as Afon Rhaeadr Fawr; from the road bridge, Bont Newydd, the name becomes Afon Aber.
