Have a day on the Tay on Saturday and notice that there is to be a considerable drop in air temperature over the next couple of days. Good or bad thing regards prospects? Any change in tactics?

Talking more from what I've read than many years of experience folk generally suggest that a temperature drop at this time of year is a bad thing, especially if the air temperature is less than water temperature. They suggest that when the air temperature is low you should be going a bit deeper with the fly. However, you'll know fine that there are no fixed rules in salmon fishing. We've all caught fish when we know that the rules say conditions were impossible and failed to catch when conditions look great and the pools were heaving with fish. I'll be out on the Spey on Saturday and I'll just see what happens. I can hardly wait!

Have been taking an interest in the weather with our annual trip to the Dee next week. Not terribly excited about the northerly airflow kicking in as we speak!
I'd hazard a guess that the initial shock of the drop will put fish 'down' but once it's set in for a few days perhaps things will pick up a little more. Here's hoping

I would have thought it would make no difference, unless the water temperature drops. When the banks are frozen in Feb and November, fish still oblige, sure you will have a chance on your trips.Good luck on the Spey Feugh, waiting for the full report.

Think the temperature drop will be the same on ALL beats.

The initial drop in temperature can put the fish down for the first day, but they soon get used to it. Keep your fly in the water and if it swings in front of a fresh fish, it will still take. Best of luck tomorrow.

Cheers Graham. I'm going armed with a couple of newly purchased flees named after a beat not a million miles from Aberlour.

What about this June weather, very cold, and wet so far and they are predicting this cool / wet system to last all June.
Flaming June!

Wet?? Are you joking!! The grass is all dying in the fields and the rivers are nearly bone dry here.
