Some may have heard I have had issues with my new car from the second month of purchase due to a rattling sound from the front suspension. The garage were good to start off with and tried a few times to rid the motor of this irritating noise when going over ruts in the road etc. Anyhow when the garage said that its "just a trait" and its the two stage shock absobers making the noise and only my model is effected, and Hyundai wouldn't be doing anymore for me I just about exploded and vowed I would get them to eat their words. With the assistance of WhatCar who said they would run with this, the attached is the result of standing up to these big boys/companies. The car is as it should be now, after a year of fighting them, was getting very frustrating to say the least Here is the article in the Magazine:

As a Hyundai IX 35 owner(Car purchased October 2011) I am very interested in this post. I haven't had any suspension rattles but have had numerous other problems mainly of an electronic/electrical nature. I'm sure What Car might be interested if I have further unresolved problems.

Hi Kenny - what a coincidence. Mrs Tip was suggesting we look at this very model as the Nissan Qashqai, which is also a contender, looks like it has too many 'bits' hanging down from under it thus giving you a clearance far less than first appears - shows you how much I know about motors. So, not recommended ?

More expensive, but the Landrover Freelander 2 is a more sophisticated and capable car than those mentioned above. I am on my second. Due for an internal revamp for the MY2013....There is a 2 wheel drive version available as well, though I don't see the point! Some report transmission and electrical problems and the odd nightmare. See Freel2.com for owners advice. Not many IX35 sold? JT

So, not recommended ? Andy it is a very capable and frugal car for its size and apart from the shock absorber issue is a very fine car. It has lots of toys for the money when compared to others and a lot cheaper as well. Last week coming back from the Lochy I was reading 62mpg on the computer but do realise its less than that in real terms, but welcome mpg all the same. My last car Jaguar XJ6 got an average of 20mpg, so it's not hard for me to be pleased. The 2.0 iX35 gets less of course and for all the difference in these busy roads that, that makes would go for the 1.7 premium with all the toys. My friend had a Nissan qashqai and had lots of issues and wouldn't go back to one in a week of Monday's.
