when spey casting when your lines in the water do you twitch it or retrive it or what any advise would be great thanks

I think it depends on the current the fly is fishing in.
If there is sufficient flow to keep the fly moving about then there is probably no need to add any extra movement to the fly. If the flow is particularly slow then maybe a slow retrieve could give some extra life to the fly.
It is often the case where the flow changes as the fly comes around so a combined approach may be required (i.e. let it come round naturally then begin a slow retrieve as the fly enters the slacker water towards the edge).
You can also add an upstream or downstream mend to the line in order to speed up or slow down the fly.
Mastering any of the above and proving that it helps you catch is another matter.
