As the rivers are dire at the moment, we decided to take in a little bike ride from Bathgate to Edinburgh. Most of the route was off road along the Edinburgh to Falkirk (Union) Canal and the approx total return trip would be the best part of 40 miles. My backside differed and thought it 140 miles! and I am going to audition on BGT as John Wayne. Well I did walk like him for a long time afterwards Anyhow info and a few pictures of the canal and the Almond valley Aquaduct. This Aquaduct is one of the longest in the UK and the sight from the top of it are exceptional. Its 420ft (130m) long and 76ft (23m)above the river Almond. The River like most in this weather is shrunken to its proverbial bare bones and I wouldn't think many seatrout or salmon will attempt at this height.
