BRIGHT STREAM OF MEMORY GOLDEN YEARS OF THE FISHING GAZETTE by Geoffrey Bucknall
Does any member of the forum have this book ?
I am searching for an article in the Fishing Gazette by George Murdoch, dated 6th September 1886.

I have the book Malcolm, a quick flick through shows an mention of a list of flies recommended by William Murdoch for use on the Dee in low water, it is dated 1891 though. The first of these is the Blue Charm (invented by him), the dressing differs a little from the modern one, the wing is bronze mallard overlayed by slips of teal, while the hackle is greenish blue, rather than the silver doctor blue now more commonly used. The other 4 flies listed are the Green Peacock Golden Wasp, Golden Blue and the Fail Me Never.

Thanks again Graham, I should have known to consult the oracle (some know him as Wikiritki before searching the internet. I intend tying a fully blown Childers classic fly over christmas and wanted to check the correct highland dressing used on the River Thurso and listed by William Murdoch. Malcolm
