I wonder why the man from Delmonte can't speak for himself on this forum rather than using Willie Gunn as a mouthpiece ? Personally I'm not spending any more time on this, but will of course be interested to hear the answer........on twelfth night or whatever !

The man from Delmonte says YES!!!! Well done Eric, I take it Macdonald and Laing, A D S and L R (1973) 'Early ecclesiastical sites in Scotland: a field survey, part II', Proc Soc Antiq Scot, vol.102 Page(s): 141 Held at RCAHMS F.5.31.MAC.P are no relation Mel?

I doubt whether there is any relationship...wrong spelling of Macdonald for me , although my grandmother on my fathers side was a Macdonald. Good detective work hf. I think I can claim that I helped to provide the key information for the final answer !

A little more information here. www.cushnieent.force9.co.uk/Moray%20Churches/knockando.htmSt Brendan patron saint of Navigation, was that because the Knockando stretch was the most difficult and dangerous to get through, certainly before the Englishman's cut? Other thought why Vrennon not Brennon? Similar to Pol Voulin instead of Moulin, pool of the Mill? was there a speech impediment in the Grant family.

And then there is Polarder. What does that mean ? Ask the man from Delmonte. Isn't it what you say to a gillie who isn't rowing the boat fast enough?

Very good Charlie, you could perhaps offer him some water, to quench his thirst or dilute his dram. Polarder is joined from the west bank by the Alt Arder burn, which is steep and has an impassable waterfall. Arder also from Ardersier the town on the Moray firth, other examples Auchterarder, above the high water mark.
