Hopefully the 'scientific' view that spring stocks are still in decline may competently inform the current Freshwater Fisheries review.It is interesting to note that the report seems to indicate that netting is in decline also. I wonder if Mr Pullar had any impact on the report content?

One of the reasons on paper for the numbers of fish in a river could be that nowadays we count the number of fish returned as well as killed. In the past it was only the dead ones counted. On my own river there is a great shortage of fish. The eightys and the ninetys had far more fish spawning going by the number of kelts one finds lying on the bank. Bob
