www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-32773523This primarily concerns Cod stocks, but the comment about the amount of sandeels eaten by grey seals makes you wonder if Salmon and Sea trout are also affected by lack of feed available.

A according to the Herald seals only eat about 10% of salmon to fill there needs going by there crap left. Wonder what the percentage would be if samples were taken at the height of the runs. Was told that seals can not catch salmon as they are to fast for them. Just watch the seals swimming about and the speed and length of time they can keep going. There is not many salmon going to escape. Bob

Seals are seen in fresh water on the Tay and the Dee and they are not there on holiday.

Seals have been up as far as Kinkell at least on the Earn. Used to get them in the low water on our beat. They would shoot past you sending a wave as high as yourself. Not had many up for a couple of years now. The cormorants have possibly taken there food. When you think of the problems the fish face from spawn to arriving back to spawn it is surprising that there is any left. Bob
