5) You're a wannabe "auld git" but because of work you only get to fish your association water when its the colour of chocolate. You take a fishing holiday in the highlands when it hasn't rained for 12 weeks and the water temperature is 72 degrees F. You know Tarquin and Sebastian but they never invite you fishing.

Wrong school obviously Rob.

Other than a couple of days on the Tummel arranged for me by a friend I just fish the Earn near Perth. The fishing is nowhere as good as it used to be but so what. I can go whenever I feel like it [except Sundays] and are now content with just a fish a day. There is trout and grayling to try for and plenty of wildlife to see and enjoy. Bob

As a member of a small syndicate and as a forum member I have a few dates which will be regarded as booked in advance...pot luck if you get the right conditions. Other than that I tend to book my fishing on a daily basis with Fishpal or select from other offers/invitations I get from time to time. I have now given up all my Association waters. The last three years I have had a week in Iceland which this year was going to be prohibitively pricey so I have opted instead to have a week on the Thurso on a rod share with my usual Iceland companion. Might be good and might be bad and once again pot luck with water levels but I regard it as a bit of an experiment, I am lucky that I am retired and can practically go fishing anytime that conditions are right apart from when my wife wants to go away on holiday !

Tend to book most of my fishing in advance these days, three weeks on the Spey in May and a week on the Lochy in August.
Still have a syndicate rod on the Tyne so hoping to fit a few more days in this year.

Missed most of last year post ankle fusion and was looking at Iceland as a special treat this year but like Mel thought the prices a little too much. Have booked the Thurso for the first week in June together with a pal. Only 12 rods let for the entire river so will be dependent on the Ghillie for his advice - fished it during September back in 2015 but arrogantly didn't have a Ghillie, big mistake. Probably on the Stinchar in October but in between, fishing Chew, Blagdon and Farmoor for fully finned rainbows on #5 tackle.

Nothing booked locally for a change. But I have to book in advance for trips "away". Two days on the N Esk/ 2 days on the Garry mip April. (Yes, spinning gear WILL be packed!). Two weeks fishing followed by one "working" on the Conon in May. Conon again "working" in July for a week. After that, I will fish the occasional day at home when not rowing others about. Four days drinking booked on the Tay mid October...
