Appears to be ok for the moment. Are you seeing your pic and avatar Bill ? - because I'm not !! Just wondering if 'my ban' means I cant even see pics posted by other Photobucket users. Still no answer to my email. I guess the way they see it is they have informed me of the reason and will enter into no further dialogue. This has fair scunnered me. It's gone now Andy. I feel just the same as yousell, well and truly scunnered.

Looks like Kenny Carr is the latest victim. I'm just wondering if someone has tipped off PB about this particular forum.
Maybe just being paranoid.

I suppose we could always just vote with our feet and take our business elsewhere.

We could I suppose bow to pressure if we all want to see this forum prosper as we know it, pictures and all etc
I'm going to guess there is a hard core of very approx 30 members who post on a regular ish basis so is a tenner each that much keep access to all the pictures on here!
Just a thought chaps
Kenny

Hi Kenny. It's not a tenner each. It would be a tenner PM each for each account. $399 USD for the year - each. Or split into twelve manageable (ma erse !) monthly payment of 'whatever' - each.
Like Fredo, I'll be thinking what the best alternative is and take it from there - probably be a winter task tho.
I'm away to take the bairn camping to LK overnight (first time). Then we're off to Barbados for 3 weeks so it will be a guid wee whiley before I decide what's best / easiest. Suffice to say I wont be giving PB a red cent. Barstewards !!

Yes individual members of course will need to subscribe to keep their accounts open in order to post across pictures to this forum. But this one being looked upon as a commercial member, would cost the $399 or just under £300. Hence the suggestion of £10 each for 30 members unless more we're willing to chip in too, lessening the burden a tad.
Have a great time in Barbados and dinny dwell under the coconut trees too long if it's windy!!!

Problem with that Kenny is that all the photos posted over the years using pb are associated with individual accounts. They're not coming back unless the individuals sign up for the $399.
It's not just this forum, it's all of them, fishing and non-fishing.

It's not just this forum, it's all of them, fishing and non-fishing. I believe it's only forums, businesses and the like that need to pay the €399 is it not? Individuals up to a certain threshold get it free. Sure I read that but could be wrong again lol

I have been contemplating the suggestion that a shared Photobucket Account is used and although it would be extremely bloody difficult to have an account shared by 30 members I think it could certainly be shared by about 3 or maybe 4. You would need to set up an email account using something like Gmail which the 3 or 4 participants could access. You then register on Photobucket using the Gmail account details and the 4 participants can all log in and upload photos and download links to them. It might be a bit fiddly at first until you get the hang of it but after a while it would be fairly straightforward. The bug bear would be sorting your photos which would be mixed in with the other 3 peoples. Photobucket does however have a facility for creating albums and providing you kept things tidy then you should be able to work it well enough.

Even if it were possible to set up a new 'joint' account it would be considered a 'new' account - which wouldn't do anything to retrieve the lost pics.

They have sent me an email suggesting that my pictures are locked for the account that I don't pay anything for. They do however categorically state that if I log into my Photobucket Account I can retrieve them to my own hard drive. I know it is a bloody nuisance and not what any of us want. We do however have very few options. It is either pay the men with black hats what they are ransoming us all for or play it a bit cutesy and stick one on them.

As a forum member that very rarely if ever uses photos on here I certainly wouldn't be paying for something that would be used only occasionally. I expect that there will be others that feel the same. Interesting only a minority of forum members have actually commented on this specific thread which makes me wonder if the majority are really all that concerned about a lack of a photo facility? To be honest any fishy pics that I post these days go on Facebook. Perhaps this forum has served its time now?

For what its worth, i wont be paying $399 for an account, and it may be more logical for us to set up a Facebook group, but it would be a crying shame to loose all the step by step fly tying, beat information and other interactions and resources that people spent their time putting up for us all to use; i probably dip in here at least once a week to find some information on a particular fly or new beat, and i would miss the ability to do that, Quite how we save all that though i am not sure, it certainly seems more comprehensive and detailed than anywhere else i have visited online thanks to the continuing efforts of many of the members.

I posted step by steps when I was a member here previously. I post step by steps now. I don't use Facepuke as it is full of crackpots and people from Blackpool. You really do not need to spend $399 to keep things as they are. It works out at $16 per month. Divvied up between 3 or 4 individual members this would only work out at $5 or $4 per month. The other alternative is to lift all of your photos from Robbingbastardbucket drop them into your own hard drive and then submit them to Flickr which is still cost free and more importantly advert free

I'm very concerned about the lack of photo facility and even more concerned about the loss of such a valuable resource, built up over many years. I don't, however have any answers to over come this particular problem. I would join Facebook as an absolute last resort. I would probably pay photo bucket £399 before doing so!

I'm hoping that pb will realise that this move is just going to turn their users away in droves. With that goes their advertising revenue and their business goes down the tubes. Hopefully, at that point, they'll change their minds and reverse this decision, although something smells fishy about the whole thing.
I can't see how chipping in for a new account changes anything. It won't bring back all those photos belonging to old accounts and I'd rather put new photos elsewhere, like Flickr or imgur.
If someone is keen and has a back up of all their pics, they could upload them to another host, then trawl back through old posts changing the links. Can't see many being bothered with that and what's really sad is that there are threads all over the internet by people that are no longer with us and their pics are all gone.
