Been a few turning up on different rivers, one on the Spey, one on the Helmsdale, two on the Ness and a few in the in-river nets on the North Esk.

A guess the chances oh a pair breeding in a Scottish river are fairly slim.But rods cannot catch em all unfortunately.

I think interbreeding isn't an issue due to the differing spawning cycles. I read also that the young head straight to sea on hatching so no competition on the food front. While the odd stray is welcome on the quiet times I wouldn't like to see them in any numbers.
