Has anyone had much experience with the Zelda fly? I tied a few on plastic tubes this afternoon, a mixture of brass and tungsten cone heads, most of the ones i have seen have a bead and are tied on a treble, but will give them a go, i don't currently have any beads with a large enough hole to fit over a hook eye. I assume that they are worked sharply to make the bristles work, how long should the feelers be? they seem very long on most of the pictures i have seen. any information gratefully received.

Never heard of them Jan but presumably they are a take on the popular Francis flies. I don't use or tie these all that often but when I do I usually tie them with four to six feelers made from stripped pheasant tail. Length will depend on the size of the body but generally my feelers are about 1.5 times body length. Hope this of some help.

yes they seem to be a low water feeler fly maybe adapted from a frances, they are often on trebles and look like this, just wondered if anyone had any more information.

A couple of slightly different ones I tied on a double for places where the trebles are frowned upon, they aren't finished yet, a bit more tidying up to do, removing superglue from the cones, and more coats of hard as nails, but they look fishy to me, but the fish will decide! I put the cone-heads on over the hook points, rather than over the eye.

I saw that too Mel, thanks, wondered if anyone had tried it locally.

How do you get the cones on over the hook points?

Just held them together with forceps then they sprung back into place. On the trebles I am told that you have to find beads with large holes and squeeze the eye down a little
