Just taking my mackenzie DTX spey off the reel. Only used once since new for a day on the Dee and gave it a quick wipe we the damp wonder cloth as was fairly surprised tae see it was a tad gruby. not bad but just shows how quickly a line gathers dirt. 4 wee cloots for 5 quid seems good value for something that actually works.
chance to test out ma new sharps line winder another 25 quid well spent.

I usually use a bit of fairly liquid and a damp cloth. To be fair to Rio they recommend using the cloth with a tad of mild hand soap and warm water if the line is really gruby. So at least they are not pushing other Rio products.
It is yet another heed scratcher the amount of products out there now just for cleaning a fly line. I find my trout lines need far more cleaning to keep them shooting out.

I use Armour All dashboard wipes to clean my floating lines. They remove the dirt and leave a nice slick coating on it too. About £4 a tub from Halfords.

Just wondered why not the dashboard wipes/ Does it discourage sinking?

Just wondered why not the dashboard wipes/ Does it discourage sinking? They are silicone based and will cause the slower sinkers to float.

Strange the line manufacturers have not come up we something for sinkers considering the amount oh products for reviving old floaters back to new again or so they say. that said having just lashed out on one a they 5 density sinkers ah may need 5 new products one for each depth lol. Just have tae be soapy water and a cloot for it.

Not sure if it would damage the line but spray can brake cleaner on a cloth would do the trick.I have used it on car interior trim plastics and vinals to remove oily finger marks with out damage it would remove dirt and oils from handling and is a fast evaporating solvent.
