We had our annual first Saturday of the Tay Salmon season hoping to catch one of those elusive Springers, but the salmon were not playing. However it was good to meet up with the lads for the craic, good grub and the craic. Always a popular outing and thanks to Andy Pelc for organising this once again.
Can’t add pictures - sorry

I came down for opening day, using the excuse of going to see PB getting awarded the Malloch Trophy. A few of us retired to the Murthly Top water hut afterwards. Several casts were taken and NO drams!!!!! Seen as I was on Tayside, I had a go on Catholes on Wednesday. Plenty wee grilse kelts about to liven things up on what is nice fly water. It was just as well Bob White appeared when he did, as lunch was getting a bit messy....

I noticed there was absolutely zilch reported on Fishpal for opening week Saturday. On the assumption that most beats would have at least a couple of rods fishing, it was disappointing to see nothing reported. Doubly disappointing if you consider the generally favourable conditions. However, it's still early days.
Apparently we are about to enter a 30 day cold snap - get your lower beat bookings in now ! Cheers A.
