I'm heading to Rio Gallegos late Febuary and would be grateful if anyone out there could give me an indication of what flies I should be using this late in the season. I have fished there before in 2006 using Prince nymphs, woolybuggers and eggsucking leeches which were fine in low water. I am presently tying up a supply of these but what should I tie for higher flows. Thanks K

Any chance of posting a few pics of your flees for this trip ?
Always wanted to head that far south for the searun fish. Is there a best time to go if I make that step?

Speyducer, I will post the flies in due course but at present I am working my butt off to pay for the trip. I will be travelling at the end of Feb 2008, which is mid summer there. I will also be travelling to Jurrassic lake to try for some big wild rainbows. Take a look at the Loop tackle site and you will see where i'm talking about. Not salmon but a good way to start the 2008 season. Price ways, they have changed payment from dollars to the euro so we miss out the good exchange rate. It really is a trip of a lifetime with the hardest fighting seatrout that you can imagine.

Hi Speyducer, As promised here are some of my flies that I will be taking to Rio Gallegos. Most are rubber legged versions and hot heads of woolley buggers, prince nymphs, b**ch creek nymphs, stone flies. First attempt at tying Intruders which will hopefully do the business in the dark. 6 weeks and counting, to I get a chance at wetting them and hopefully hooking into one of the monsters that run the river. ;D K

Hi Carrick, Having only just had my electricity restored at 1.30pm after the storms last night ( No electric,no heating, no cooker, no water (Water is pumped up to the house by an electric pump : I am now very envious of any one heading to the Sunshine. To let you know that Mike is away at the moment, so will be unable to respond to your posting of some wicked flees!! ATB Robbie
