The Chirnside Inn, Chirnside, Scottish Borders. This is a what I would call a proper pub. Warm, friendly and busy with a log fire . The food was excellent and was available to eat either in the bar area, or in a adjoining restaurant area. The menu had something for everyone, and in true "bloke" style we got really adventurous and all ate Steak and chips!!. The sleeping accomodation was clean and warm, if somewhat a bit on the snug side. Hornet and I shared a twin bedded room with the smallest en-suite shower and loo that I have ever seen. However it was clean and everything (including ourselves) functioned well. Sinkingtip had a single bedded room without en -suite, however bathroom facilities were just over the corridor. Breakfast was first class- full works and good quality. They also filled my thermos with coffee F.O.C. My one complaint was noise. When staying in Pub accomodation I always make allowances for noise, however a juke box and singing directly below your room at 2.30am is not fair. I was tempted to only pay half my bill as I had slept for less than half a night.!! Having said that If S/tip had not been leading the singing it would have probably been all over midnight Costs were Twin room inc. breakfast £30 pp/pn single room £25 pp/pn Pedwell beat was approx 10 miles away. I would certainly stay there again

I only saw 3 rooms with numbers on them. However that is not to say there are not more.
