I acquired 9' and 11' versions of this rod in a deal recently. Can anyone give me any feed back on their capabilities/suitablity for either spinning or bait fishing ? Both are unused, would I be wiser to sell them both and put the money toward something different?

I have the 11' bait/ spin model, decent enough rods. Value unused I'd think around £55 - £70.

Hi Robbie - Like lamson I have an unused MM 11' Bait / Spin which was acquired as a Valentines Day gift for Mrs Tip earlier this season. The reason it remains unused is simply, as I discovered, the female perception of what an appropriate gift for an occasion such as this warrants - ie, NOT a long weekend in Paris. Nice rod - well finished and more than capable of weilding 40g Kosters if required but it IS a light rod. Hang on to them would be my advice.

The 11' bait / spin makes a nice smallish river spinning rod with braid and small lures. Yes , I know it's long but it lets me hang baits over known lies far longer than a shorter rod. Nice through action for using with braid. Had fish up to 16lbs on it but not sure I'd like to use it in really heavy / fast water.

It really didn't pacify MAD - AM when I told her that she could now come fishing with me. Had a similar prob after buying her some classy scanties a couple of years ago. " That's a pressie to youself , you bastard " was all the thanks I got.

Yes its funny that isnt it IBM - you buy them various crotchless and peephole items in a reasonable quality of leatherette and they just don't appreciate it - ye cannae win Better sticking to WRI style underwear (sensible) in future and rods by B&W.

It's a few years since I did any spinning, and that was on borrowed tackle for just an hour or too - I had no intention of spinning but there wasn't any other option for the few hours I was there.
When I have spun in Ireland some years back, I also used my fathers rods, a Shakespeare Royalty if I remember correctly. Nicely balanced with his old Mitchell reel. Those were the days. Mike

I aquired an unused 11" bait/spin mac martin a few months ago from ebay, perfect for trotting the worm, sensitive enough to enjoy the fight but more than capable of handling big fish.
