I've heard of many different casts & methods of casting, but never heard this one before.
Came up in recent conversation, "I've just seen a neagit cast into that pool....", so unsure as to correct spelling...
It must be different from Spey & Scandinavian casting, but unsure as to its relationship to Skagit casting.
?an acronym, or a new cast??
Thoughts or enlightenment please...

Perhaps he was watching someone casting not very well, perhaps some Geordie type.
And he said I saw an eegit cast into that pool.

Speyducer is quite correct in bringing to our notice this new and enviable casting style that is the Neagit. A style followed by anglers who sometimes tell me that a 13ft rod for our small river is far to big. Whyee mon ya divnae need nowt mair than a troot rod for here. So there they go with a 2 inch brass tube , a 9ft rod rated 6 -7, whish , wish most graceful. Ouch but a treble hook and a Garry Dog tube makes a pretty ear pendant, if you are that way inclined. More power to the Neagit style I say, more fun than a 3 ring circus so long as you stand well clear.

A neagit cast is one of those where you try to cast a bit further than your limit because there are spectators on the other bank. You strip off another 6 yds of line to shoot and then it all goes horribly wrong and ends up with a pile of knitting or the D loops snags. ;D logie
