Dartmoor today: Despite all the doom and gloom on the telly, we seem to be thawing out, with temps above freezing at sea level all day. Time though to take the kids up to Haytor for one last bit of fun on the snow. Fortunately, unlike last year, the police left the road open.

Snowdonia was looking superb under blue skies and sunshine yesterday. We drove up the Lledr valley which looked like a winter wonderland with fresh snow covering the trees and frozen waterfalls on the river. Unfortunately I forgot to take a camera, but as we drove up the Crimea Pass and looked back to a snow covered Moel Siabod, the view was breathtaking. We didn't get as far as Snowdon, but I'm sure it would have looked something like this: This is the summit of Snowdon - recent photo from BBC news site:

I wonder how many years it has been since neither the Dee or the Spey declared a fish landed for an entire week...
I suppose there is still tomorrow to go yet, but even as the eternal optimist, things aren't looking too good.
It may be as far back as the 60's - any ideas?

I suppose there is still tomorrow to go yet, Probably fishable today Graham as the Gru has almost gone. It's just trying to get out past the ice that's the problem now. Never mind the river will be bank full soon...... ;D

I'm truly scunnered with the stuff, all I do is dig myself out. Started again this morning digging through to Duffer, his run is 6ft high. Last nights snow which fell off the roof again. At least it makes re-tuning the satelite dish easy. There's your stick shed Weegie, it just needs filling.

Never mind wee man you and Duffer can take part in the winter olympics as the Ballintomb Bobsleigh team, now wheres that lycra biyler siut ;D ;D Never mind Malcolm as Tom Cattanach the local Carron farmer used to say before he sadly passed away last year, "Keep shovelling son and yell growe big" Ehmm do you have planning permission for that sir, I will fill it the next time I am up whem I see the building warrant if thats ok with you All joking aside Malcolm at least when the picture on the p---o channel is poor, you dont need to get that ladder out of the garage in the dark again, jist nip oot the front door and run up the side of the hoose.
