Hi, Not sure whether we should have posted this in the casting clinic section. Jean and I are casting instructors and Hardy / Greys consultants, we are thinking of having a free fun day( before the season starts) at Fishers Cottage for anyone who wants to try any Hardy or Greys salmon rods and get a freebie spey casting lesson, you might even get a bowl of Jean's famous soup. If your interested let us know soon and we can get it sorted.

Hi Salmo, For us, this Sunday ie 18th would be good. Would love to get out for some test casting, and it would be my 'free' weekend. However, I'll be sunning myself on the slopes of the French Alps, unfortunately! ;D Will check back with you later in the season, perhaps. Hope you all have a good day! Mike

Hi, We are on the Kinnaird estate top beat of the South Esk, between Brechin and Montrose, about halfway between Dundee and Aberdeen. About a mile out of Brechin heading for Montrose, there are 2 big trees on your right with a white band painted on them, turn between the trees and drive to the end of the road and you come to the river and Fishers Cottage. For guys with sat nav, our post code is DD9 7PN. Tel 01674 810352

Still to be decided. The beat where you are located looks very nice, but nothing on the Esks website. Sadly the middle and lower beats don't appear to be anywhere near as productive. I've had a few pointers from others on here, anything you would suggest?

Rob,
We have some rods on the Aberdeenshire Dee in April. I will post some availability in Salmon Fishers Club by next week.
Tom N Jean. Are you willing to help out with some instruction in exchange for some Dee rods?

Hi Salmo,
Thanks for the great offer, but April for us is a manic month, we don't have a single day free. We have fishing parties on our packages for the whole month. A couple of our parties have reduced numbers ( due to the present financial carry on ) so we may have some rods up for grabs on the North and South Esks, will post them on the forum once we know the dates. Again, thanks for the offer, it would have been good to meet up with sme of you guys.
Take care, Tom n Jean.

Evening all, Just back from Tom & Jean's open day. For all you novices (I put myself firmly in that bracket having fished for only 3 yrs with a double hander) I would strongly recommend you spend some time with this couple even if it is simply to look at your existing kit and check the rod and line are balanced and suit your ability level and casting style. Yes we did, and no; they were not. A couple of rod swaps, line swaps and a generous sprinkling of 'knowing their stuff' later and I discovered much to my surprise that I'm not a dead loss after all, (not when it comes to casting at least). For those who are already competent casters it was also clear this highly qualified pair will be able to help you get even better. Really appreciate the time you took with me today guys and really impressed with the difference you were able to make so quickly. Loads of Hardy & Greys rods to try out too, fishing trips organised locally and abroad so all in all can't really think of anything they can't help you with. Think Scotlands one stop salmon centre (and make sure you ask Jean for a Banjo Roll). Thanks again and hope to see you both again very soon, and for those reading this and thinking about popping up for a visit, you'll never know unless you make the effort, so make sure you do. Nolon.

Hi Nolin,
Thanks for the kind words. You were always going to struggle a bit to progress with the kit you had, not that it's bad tackle, it's a good line and a good rod ( although a bit agricultural ) they just didnae get on that weel wi each ither. We are planning to have another open day on Sunday March 22nd. all welcome, Banjos at the ready.
Take care, speak soon, Tom n Jean.

Hi Tom,
I would be up for coming along on this day. It would give me the chance to brush away some cob webs.
Not sure if Stps on tour as he may join me.
Cheers
