Just back from Scone. I was there last year for the first time in many years but we left early and I didn't get a chance to have a proper look around. I got there early today and looked round all the many corners and events. It really is a great show, something for everyone. I spent all my cash, down to coppers for the last purchase Fisherman's Row was by far the busiest avenue although the top end had more non fishing than fishing stands. Northern Guide Switch rods looked good, 10'6" long in a variety of weights. I liked the Meiser style handles on the whole range which is a nice touch on a rod for £140. I had a 15minute casting session with one of the instructors (trying to sort a problem with the fly hooking the line on the forward cast). He gave me some points to practice, it takes me a while to ingrain new movements! By the way the Tay was some colour, due to a land slip in the Pitlochry area according to Bob White. It was unfishable today (just as well it was the Sabbath) and is likely to be so again tomorrow. A visit to Scone in 2010 is highly recommended if you haven't been there for a while. Builnacraig

Saturday was a good day with Fisherman's Row being packed for most of the day. Bought myself a new 14-foot Wychwood Truefly which I'll be trying out this week on the South Esk providing there's enough water.
£10 for moleskin tousers was a good bargain, Lucifer! I got stung for £15.

Am i the only one who is disapointed with the show. The fishing section is just a fraction of what it was. None of the big names there now, Bruce and Walker, Hardy etc.
