Aye, there's still a bit of pleasure in the pain a fish gives you. Hoping to put a bend in the rod on the B Esk tomorrow

My wife's rod bending into her first salmon - in Russia - in the rather aptly named Dream pool of the E. Litza, July '07 And the resulting grilse safely held for the photo, bomber still in mouth. Our guide, Young Vasili, generating a good bend in my rod, testing this out on the high water of Ledge pool, E. Litza, same trip July '07 And the reason for the rod being bent!! ;D ;D Only joking, this parr attacked my fly over half its size in the Tent pool of the E. Litza, not producing much of a bend at all, as I recall! Mike

Looks like ST has snagged the botton Col. ;D
Is the bottom photo Pedwell? The water looks low, but quite streamy. Is there some nice fly water?

It is pedwell,,,great fly water,,but best fished when the water is low,,,this was at 7 on the guage at norham on sat,,the wade is easy as you see on the photo,in fact you hardly wade here at all, However the tip stream is a different animal,a tricky rocky stream at the bottom of a steep bank ,,,i personally really enjoy fishing the beat.

Gentlemen - I am somewhat surprised that the more observant of you have failed to pick up on the fact I am using a single handed rod as, having 'read' the water, it seemed to be the most suitable tool for the job - how right I was For the 'technos' amongst us the rod is a Sirrus 11' #7 with matching reel. Cortland 444 DT .......that's DT ..........full floater. Ten and a half foot leader (level) with a wee cascade variant - braw min !! STip

Carrying on the single hander theme. Yours truly with a couple of fish hooked at short range on the "nymph" My mate Alex wishing he had brought a heavier rod in high water on the upper Exe Andy
