Well done Mike - one of several fish from the same pool in the same couple of weeks to be without one.
June 2004, North Tyne very high up the system

Don't some hatchery fish have their adipose fins clipped, for identification purposes?

I think it is the smolts that are reared in the Kileder burn that are fin clipped mostly.
Most Tyne fishers have never caught one with the adipose missing, so it is by no means a regular occurence.

That makes you think,,,i would assume these fish travelled down to sea,,accompanied each other to the feeding grounds etc,,and run back up river at more or less the same time,,,almost like a bunch of buddies or family,,,"whoa,,im goin soft or what".
must be my age.

I think they still give out rewards for the chips/tags, not sure if £10 or £20.
