Useful for doing your homework! www.woodlands-junior.kent.sch.uk/time/moon/[/img] I am a firm believer that moon phases, hence tidal heights, can have an important influence on salmon and sea trout runs into rivers. ..........but this theory isn't 100% reliable either!!!!!!!!!!!

First of all, I do not need a calendar to tell me the phasesof the moon. I just keep an eye on my wife. I believe that most larger runs of salmon appear on the larger tides, with the main runs of salmon on the East coast of Lewis appearing on the second big tide in July. The main runs on the West coast of the island used to appear on the first big tide in July but now appear on the first big tide in August.
