I thought I might post a series of photographs of salmon rivers. See if you can name them. Here is the first. No prizes mind! Forgive me if I don't reply to every answer. I'll reply only to the correct answer, or maybe give a hint or two in the unlikely event that the knowledgeable members here struggle with the identification.

Interesting thread John. Total guess work but that looks like it could be Shiehallion in the distance ..... the river Gaur ? (short river that links Loch Eighheach with Loch Rannoch) - probably way off the mark.

The distant hills look like limestone, so I'd guess NW Scotland, Sutherland area.
Pure guess - the Naver?

Possibly the Upper Kirkaig? (though looks a bit small for it)

I reckon the Kirkaig is close but not close enough. could it be the upper River Inver?

I'm thinking Northwest corner too. Dionard or Laxford, or maybe one of the Gruinards... is it cheating to have four guesses Andy

Not quite there gents……
Not the Gaur or the Naver, the Kirkaig or Inver Not the Laxford, the Dionard, the Clyde or the Nith It’s north of the Conway, the Dochart and Tay Nearer Meall a Chinn than Meikle Bin And known for its sandstone rather than limestone

Looks a tad like the Spey as it runs along the A9 45 minutes before one hits the turnoff for speyside ect !

Using 'detective methods' only, my hunch is that sinkingtip is spot on.

Well done, Sherlock!
Yes, the photograph is of a shrunken River Torridon, taken in June of this year. Used to have a run of decent sea trout, by all accounts, before the arrival of the salmon farms.
