Thats it for yet another weekend. Nith sitting at approx 2.1m and rising. Frustrating for what is already a short season on the Upper Nith. But more worrying is that I will now no doubt, be drafted in to trail around the shopping centers throughout central Scotland for Christmas presents That's more tiring than fishing

We were heading up to the Annan today but cancelled when we checked the river levels and looked at the forecast. I've just got back home after looking at my local river, which is also rising and unfishable. The best laid plans and all that.

The South Esk is in dirty, brown flood conditions. I hope that it fines down by tomorrow afternoon. Good luck to all those that are out for the last time this year either today or tomorrow.

I believe the guage on a certain upper So.Esk beat was sitting at 5' this morning and had settled back to 2'9" by the end of the day.

Well, the river did come down and I got out onto the South Esk for just over two hours this afternoon. I had a good end to my season, landing two salmon of 6.5lb and 10lb, both of which were returned, and also long distance releasing another. All fish were caught on what is becoming my standard - a yellow hackled Park Shrimp, but this time in a tungsten yellow conehead version. I've only been fishing for salmon for three years now, but I've had a great season - the best yet by a long way (twice as many fish as my previous best and an 18lb'er on a #14 double hook and a single hander rod to top the lot). My wife is now looking forward to the close-season and hopes that she has to hear less about salmon for a few months! All the best, Feugh.

Well done Feugh, a great season by the sounds of things. No fishing for me today, all the rivers were washed off!
Still, a few opportunities left yet.
