I know we have bits and pieces here and there but I thought all of them together would be a good idea. Makes you wonder where it will all end - every fishing hut, pool and lavvy ? www.farsondigital.co.uk/scotland_webcams.php

Not in Scotland, but it looks nice and you can see it when it's dark over here. (also shows what a decent streaming webcam can do!) web.thedailycourier.com/web_cam/

A couple of new 'cams added recently - a good one at Dunkeld Bridge on Tay. Hi ST I have one major gripe with the cams (and i'm a big fan of them) all the heights are metric on the gauges which is hopeless. Rods coming to the same river/ lodges are tuned into feet & inches where for years the catch returns logged in the books are all imperial. I agreed with Farson's to put my Stinchar reports onto their site provided they changed one side of the gauge to feet & in. Getting fed up waiting for it to change. What do you feel about this.

Hi SL - I'm afraid I just look at the pictures ;D Agreed, I can better relate to feet and inches also. On the cams / rivers / beats I don't know it doesn't really make much difference. On the beats / rivers I do know I can usually tell at a glance without having to consult a gauge metric or otherwise. Handy things nevertheless.

The next one is underwater in the Dee. The camera is bought and they have sourced a fat bald diver to do the instalation and monthly cleaning.
A check out dive has been done and the secret site is excellent, it will have lots of fish on view, on the check dive salmon and seatrout were spotted very briefly, the fat diver was scaring them! but loads of parr and eels were also soon.
It will give anglers a really good idea what is down there and also show water clarity.
fat diverdave!

That is good news Diver Dave, we need one to rival the Se Laksen site in Norway... Be really good if the Philliphaugh underwater cameras at the Ettrick Cauld were fed live as well (once they are back in order after the cauld is fixed.....) Look forward to Dee salmon under water..... JT

This location will give a false impression some days, tidal?

The camera was ready in September, but weather delayed its instalation. The ground needs to be soft enough to dig the cables in (wireless will not work!) and the river needs to below and clear. I think we are good to go anytime.

This location will give a false impression some days, tidal? I did think that Dougie, the river backs up to the bridge during spring tides. It would have been better placed upstream of the bridge and with a scale to gauge changes in water height.

Having a wee look at the cameras this morning and it looks like more than a few rivers need a bit of rain.
With little snow on the mountians/hills, the rivers could struggle this year.

You are spot on though, there can't be very much snow left lying - excepting the very high, north facing corries. April/May could well be relying on "spates" on a lot of rivers.
