Has anyone fished and has experience of the three beats on the Bisterne Estate, on the Hampshire Avon ?
I would be pleased to hear their comments, observations.
Many thanks.

Hello fromefisher, Many thanks for your reply, I shall heed your advice. The reason for my initial interest is that individual day rods on the Bisterne estate are being offered at the moment. Individual day rods being offered on a weekly rotation on the three beats, ie. if you take a Monday rod, 1st week would be upper beat, 2nd week lower beat, and 3rd week middle beat...and so on. The cost for the 2011 season is £ 100 per rod for the season. Rods are available for every day except Friday and Sunday. This would seem to be a reflection of the fishing on the Hants Avon now.

There's fish still in there. www.fishingclass.co.uk/hantsavon.aspxbut remember Bisterne has a truncated salmon season, it does not begin Feb 1 st but March 15th and finishes on July 31st. I believe there is a bidding system in place for rods in August. But remember you are sharing the fishery with coarse anglers, the fishery is shut to coarse anglers during their closed season which extends to August on this water, because of the salmon rods. All the fishing is controlled by the same, Christrchurch Angling Club I think it is what is known as 'maximizing assets'. remember also there is a club rule that states salmon fishing is curtailed when the water temperature is above 19 deg. at Knapp Mill. This may preclude salmon fishing during a large part of Aug and the warmer months.
